Chalets in Kitzbühel Ski resort in Austria

Kitzbühel is a pretty medieval, charming, and romantic town in the heart of the Austrian Tirolyean Alps between Salzburg and Innsbruck. The skier’s dream town is closest to the glamour of the luxury Swiss resorts.

The Ski area belonging to this Austrian Tyrolean alps has 2 main mountainsides (The third being neighbouring Bichlalm). The Larger being Hahnenkamm ( the ski lodge is just located nearby), and the smaller being Kitzbüheler Horn great for beginners. The Hahnenkamm is well known for hosting the annual World Cup ski races, which includes the downhill race on the notable Streif slope. Don’t be frightened by the Hahnenkamm World Cup course, This town is cute and luxurious and the scenery is welcoming.

Ski Areas & Runs in Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel is recommended for the intermediates and experts, and the off-piste enthusiasts. This is the terrain for Powder lovers and free riders with plenty of slopes with deep snow below the tree line and wide powder fields plus tree line itineraries. The slopes are split between 13 black runs, 25 red runs, and 22 blue runs – and with the exception of the Streif, there is nothing much to scare confident intermediates. Beginners must head to Hahnenkamm nursery slopes which has free lifts and more at Jochberg and Reith, and there are also lift passes available just for the Horn.  We wouldn’t particularly recommend the Horn as a beginner area.

Skiers to Kitzbühel have access to 234km of very well-tended ski runs and 36km of ski routes, and 4 km of special areas (snowparks, fun slopes, etc). Of note is the recent new 3S Cable Car, known to be the highest above-ground span in the world.

The transports system is reliable, with an excellent free bus system operating through all the villages across the Kitzbuhel piste map. There is a good bus service that operates between the Hahnenkamm gondola and Kitzbüheler Horn.
