Chalet Abade is a newly renovated, 315m² luxury chalet in the heart of Val d’Isère, sleeping up to 12 guests across five individually designed bedrooms. Named World’s Best New Ski Chalet in 2022 and reimagined by interior designers Turner Pocock, Abade sits in a genuinely rare ski in, ski out position, with the piste running directly alongside the property and the main lift hub a minute’s ski away. Guests can unwind in a private hammam, massage room and outdoor hot tub, gather beneath a double height fireplace in the main living space, and choose between a fully catered or self catered stay.

LIVING AREAS AND BEDROOMS

The entrance floor is where the practicalities of alpine life are handled in style: a dedicated ski and boot room with heated boot warmers ensures footwear is warm and ready for every morning on the mountain. Two twin and double bedrooms with en suite shower rooms sit on this level, each finished with sensor activated bathroom lighting for a quietly clever touch of comfort, alongside a spacious quad bunk bedroom with its own en suite bathroom in striking patterned tiles. The chalet’s spa area, comprising a hammam, rain shower and tranquil massage room, is also found here, tucked away for genuine privacy after a day on the slopes.

The first floor is given over entirely to entertaining. A double height ceiling, exposed beams and a grand fireplace lend real drama to the living space, where two sumptuous sofas invite guests to settle in front of the fire or gather for board games and afternoon tea. Expansive windows flood the room with light and frame views over the adjacent piste and mountains beyond. The dining area, complete with its own fireplace, wishbone chairs and Sonos sound throughout, sits between the living space and a sleek, state of the art kitchen with balcony access, perfect for long lunches in the sun. An outdoor hot tub on this level offers a spectacular spot for reviving tired limbs beneath the mountain sky, while a cosy TV room set off the hallway is made for quiet family evenings.

Two Master Suites and Three Further Beautifully Appointed Bedrooms

The top floor is reserved for two remarkable master double bedroom suites. The first enjoys a private balcony with uninterrupted mountain views, alongside an en suite bathroom with a separate shower. The second offers an equally serene retreat, with its own en suite bathroom, separate shower and WC. Both rooms are finished with soft, sensor led lighting and generous built in storage, striking a balance between sophistication and warmth that leaves guests properly rested for the day ahead.

LOCATION

Val d’Isère, France. Chalet Abade holds a genuinely privileged address in the resort’s coveted Legettaz quarter, set directly onto the piste and within easy striking distance of the main snow front that anchors the village’s ski life.

The chalet backs onto the point where the red run known as piste M meets the blue Traversée du Rogoney, at the foot of the Legettaz Stade, meaning the slopes begin, quite literally, at the door. A short, gentle ski of around a minute delivers guests to the main snow front itself, home to the resort’s ski school meeting points, a dedicated beginners’ area, and the twin lifts of the Solaise gondola and Olympique cable car, the two gateways into Val d’Isère’s wider terrain. Those without skis on can cover the same ground by car in a couple of minutes, or on foot in well under ten.

Beyond the snow front lies the village centre itself, a short hop away and rich with boutique shopping, well regarded restaurants and a lively après scene. It’s reachable in a three minute drive, or a comfortable thirteen minute walk for those happy to wander down at their own pace. Few addresses in Val d’Isère offer quite this balance of true ski in, ski out convenience with the village still so close at hand.
